Birdman talks Lil Wayne's jail time, his new album

ATLANTA — Lil Wayne is facing a year behind bars in February, but don't expect either the rapper or his label, Cash Money, to fall off the radar in his absence.

Birdman, who is the co-founder of Cash Money, already has a plan in place to keep both the label and rap's top-selling artist in the limelight. Birdman recently released his own album, "Pricele$$," and a new Lil Wayne CD is planned for release soon; albums by rappers Drake and Bow Wow are to come early next year. They also have the hot singer Jay Sean, who had a No. 1 hit with Lil Wayne, "Down."

Still, Birdman's biggest concern isn't about Cash Money — he's grappling with how to deal with the pending imprisonment of Lil Wayne, who pleaded guilty last month to an illegal weapons charge. Birdman discovered the 27-year-old rapper at age 11 and often refers to him as "my son."

On Wednesday night, as part of the run-up to the LA Auto Show, Jaguar held a sizable soiree at SoCal's Milk Studios to show off its latest wares to the public and press, with a heavy focus on its 2011 XJ flagship.

With the British automaker's latest model taking center stage, Mike O'Driscoll, Jaguar's managing director, discussed the finer points of the super saloon before announcing that rapper Jay Z will feature the XJ in his upcoming music video, "On to the Next One," a track from his new album The Blueprint 3. The 60-second trailer we saw didn't set our hearts on fire, but with Jaguar's renewed focus on "making Jaguar Jaguar again" and its push to appeal to a broader swath of the world's elite, the collaboration – although slightly awkward and mildly forced – could pay itself forward. It's just a shame about Jay Z's new logo being painted on the flanks of the luxury sedan.

"We didn't even try to coach Tim Duncan at the beginning," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "We watched him. Once we figured out what he does, then we tried to do what we could to make it better."

Popovich is taking the same "observe and report" approach with Blair this preseason.

"We're going to watch him play and see what his strengths and weaknesses are," Popovich said, "rather than put him in a box."

Popovich has to like what he's seen from Blair so far. Though a bit undersized, Blair is leading the Spurs in scoring (14.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.2) in just 18 minutes a night. He's also flashed a unique ability to turn a game in a hurry. Blair has 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Thunder, despite not entering the game until midway through the third quarter.

Blair still has a lot to learn and a long way to go. For now, however, the Spurs aren't going to overthink him.

You may be familiar with Ratatat's music, but not because you heard it on the radio.

the Brooklyn duo's music has been used in movies, on television, in commercials and on the runways.

That's Ratatat's "Tropicana" playing during the gestation sequence in "Knocked Up." J.J. Abrams used "Seventeen Years" in last year's monster epic "Cloverfield," and the same song was also used in a Hummer ad.

In an age when artists -- especially those who create only instrumentals -- can't rely on radio to play their music, Ratatat has discovered other options in the world of music licensing. "For us it's a way to get our music heard," said Ratatat's Evan Mast, one half of the band along with co-founder Mike Stroud.

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) -- Delonte West worked out with his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates on Thursday after missing the first two days of training camp.

"He had a great practice," said Cavaliers coach Mike Brown, who said the absences were unexcused. "It was great to have him on the floor."

West declined to meet with reporters, as did general manager Danny Ferry. A team spokesman said Ferry will address West's situation Saturday at the team scrimmage at the University of Akron.

West could still face a league suspension after he was recently arrested for gun possession in Maryland. Police pulled over his three-wheel motorcycle for a traffic violation and found he was carrying three loaded weapons -- two handguns and a shotgun in a guitar case.

"He's a vital part to this team," Cavs center Shaquille O'Neal said. "I watched him play last year and he's a fabulous player. We're all in this together, so we support him and stick by him."

The court has released the officer's report from the night Chris Brown beat up Rihanna -- describing the entire incident in graphic detail.

According to the report, cops responded to a "screaming woman" -- and when they arrived, they noticed a "very upset and crying" Rihanna seated in the driver's seat of a parked vehicle.

Rihanna told the officer she got into an argument with Chris Brown over something that had occurred at an event they were at earlier in the evening.

"The victim said she became enraged and slammed both of her fists against the dashboard on the passenger side of the car they were in. She reported that the defendant then pulled the vehicle over and reached over her with his right hand. He opened the car door and tried to force the victim out."

According to the report, Brown was unable to shove Rihanna out of the car because she was wearing a seatbelt.

The report continues, "When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against the passenger window of the car. "

"The victim then faced the defendant and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then continued driving."

"As he drove, he continued to punch the victim in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand."

Rihanna told cops the "assault caused her mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter over her clothing and the inside of the car."

Rihanna told cops after Brown "stopped his first assault .. she looked in the mirror and saw her eye beginning to swell.

[Brown] looked at [Rihanna] and said 'I'm going to beat the shit out of you when we get home! You wait and see!'"

Rihanna told police she tried to call her personal assistant, but she didn't pick up -- but Rihanna says she "pretended to talk, saying, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there.'"

Rihanna says she pulled the act "because she did not want to get beat anymore."

But after Rihanna's fake phone conversation, she claims Brown "looked at [Rihanna] and said, "You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!"

Rihanna told cops that Brown unleashed a second wave of punches, "during which time [Rihanna] interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face." He continued to punch her on her left arm, which caused a contusion on her left tricep.

At that point Rihanna tried texting her assistant. Brown threw the phone out of the car, stopped the vehicle and Rihanna then tried opening her door to get out, but Brown sped off and the door shut with Rihanna inside.

Brown placed Rihanna in a headlock while he drove, then bit her on her left ear. The car eventually stopped and Rihanna took the keys out of the ignition, and Brown began to punch her again in the face and arms. He placed her in a headlock and started applying pressure to her carotid artery. She couldn't breathe and began to lose consciousness. She tried freeing herself, and Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her.

Rihanna took off her shoe and tried breaking the passenger window, and he continued to punch her.

Eventually, Brown got out of the car. Rihanna opened the door and continued screaming. Brown began punching her again. He got back in the car and screamed "Where are my f***ing keys?" He got out, looked for the keys in vain, and when he could not find them removed several CDs and walked away.

Officers were called and observed numerous contusions and abrasions to Rihanna's face and forehead, as well as bruising on her left arm. There were other injuries as well.

Investigators determined Brown was wearing a large ring on his right hand which caused several of Rihanna's injuries.

The first big move of the offseason will prove to be the best move, more than one-quarter of our voters said. RJ is the piece that will get the Spurs back into the West's elite. Jefferson's shooting numbers were down last season with the Bucks, but he shot 40 percent from beyond the arc and still knows how to score. Playing in a winning atmosphere certainly will help matters, too.

Most important, perhaps, is that RJ has been healthy for the past two years -- something the Spurs' big three has not been -- and he's still on the right side of 30. If he proves to be the perfect fit, the Spurs could push the Lakers for the Western Conference crown.

Witness this: Seven of our voters -- and Cleveland's front office -- are banking on a motivated Shaq to take the Cavs to new heights. Although some wonder whether Shaq can take a backseat to LeBron or handle Dwight Howard come playoff time, there's no question there's still some Diesel left in the tank. Adding his post presence to a team that won 66 games last season without one makes Shaq's mission -- "Win a ring for the King" -- look highly possible.

To gain this honor, Artest is in a tough spot. When you join the defending champs, there are plenty of opportunities for downward mobility. Ordinary things can derail any title favorite (hello, injuries), perhaps a far more likely event than Ron-Ron Twittering Kobe & Co. into a funk. But with his drive and focus to earn a first title, it could be time to paint the portrait of Artest as a champion.

All things considered, many of the voters here eventually could rue not hopping onto this bandwagon. Although the "Heir Jordan" references vanished long ago, the numbers indicate Carter will be an upgrade over Turkoglu. So the Magic lose some length? How about VC's many strengths, such as his still-powerful forays to the hoop? Think his solid 3-point accuracy (38.5 percent) with the woeful Nets last season will improve when he plays alongside the best big man in the game?

Sure, he's coming off his lowest scoring average (12.9 points per game) since his rookie season, but there are three good reasons Marion earned three votes: (1) He should enjoy life in the fast lane again, this time with Jason Kidd running the break; (2) he can still defend multiple positions; and (3) there's no way he can shoot any worse from downtown than he did last season (19 percent).

The Blazers wanted Turkoglu, but landing Miller might be a blessing in disguise. He gives the team a veteran presence and, more importantly, allows Brandon Roy to play off the ball. Although he can't spread the floor with his 3-point shot, he can get the ball into the hands of those who can shoot it from deep and get the team easy baskets in transition. And if it doesn't work out, Portland can let him walk in two years.

Turkoglu (3 votes)
Turkoglu provided the best offseason intrigue when he nearly signed with Portland and then, at the eleventh hour, opted for Toronto. He gives the Raptors a sense of the dramatic on the court, too: His late-game heroics were special in the '09 playoffs. Yes, $53 million is a lot for a guy who shot only 41 percent from the floor (110th in the NBA) and 35 percent from behind the arc (95th) last season, but he'll take some pressure off Chris Bosh and maybe even persuade him to stay.

No doubt Wallace needed a change of scenery after five years in Detroit. Boston is probably the perfect place for him now. He'll get to start fresh with a title contender loaded with veterans. Sheed will play a smaller role than he did with the Pistons, but he still needs to get in shape and keep his emotions in check. Either way, he is a considerable upgrade over Mikki Moore.

"The Prisoners" Film Wahlberg and Alcon Entertainment Attached

Alcon Entertainment has just purchased Aaron Guzikowski's script titled, "The Prisoners," and is fast-tracking this kidnap thriller for a mid-fall 2010 release by Warner Bros. The story focuses on a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and best friend are suddenly kidnapped. After the cops fail to find the suspect, the man (Mark Wahlberg) turns vigilante and starts an investigation of his own. Mark Wahlberg became attached to this script back in early March. This thriller is set to start production within the next few months.

Drake may find himself in a wheelchair like his character Jimmy Brooks on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” if he doesn’t take it easy. The “Best I Ever Had” rapper took a fall onstage in Camden, New Jersey, on Friday night.

According to Miss Info, Drake was performing his hit song with Lil Wayne on the “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” at the Susquehanna Bank Center when he attempted to spin while moving across the stage. He immediately collapsed to the floor as a result of an existing knee injury.

After Drake was carried offstage, a confused Lil Wayne told the crowd, “Hold up, this ni**a really got a bad leg. I thought that shit was only on the TV show. I’mma have to get some extra insurance for this ni**a, man.”

Drake injured his ACL prior to the tour and was limiting his set to 30 minutes. He decided to join the outing despite his doctor’s recommendation. A torn ACL can cause significant pain and take up to a year to heal.

“It’s too much of a risk if I hit that wrong turn [doing] 30 minutes every night,” Drake told MTV News prior to the tour. “If I tear my ACL again, the doctors say I might not be able to walk again. I have to be cautious.”

UPDATE: Drake has commented on his injury via his Twitter page. “All is well…on the bus laying down…getting surgery this week but I’m walking. Thank my whole YM family for the help! Lion Hearts!”

Universal Pictures: Upcoming Slate of Features List Until June 2010

Universal Pictures has just announced the release dates for its upcoming feature films going all the way into next summer. Fist to kick off is Judd Apatow's: Funny People this Friday, July 31st, then is A Perfect Getaway on August 7th, Love Happens is on September 18th, Couples Retreat is then on October 9th, and The Vampire's Assistant will be held on October 23rd. On November 6th, the studio will finally release the Milla Jovovich thriller The Fourth Kind. That will be followed on Christmas Day with Nancy Meyers' fresh new romantic comedy titled, It's Complicated. However, Universal has again pushed back The Wolfman, and has been delayed and is to be released on February 12th, 2010. On March 12th, Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass' thriller titled, Green Zone, hits theaters. MacGruber, which is based on the "Saturday Night Light" skit, is opening on April 16th. Finally opening first for next summer is an Untitled Robin Hood Adventure that wil debut on May 14, 2010, followed by Get Him to the Greek on June 11th and then followed by Despicable Me that will be released on July 9 2010.

Barrymore, Long, Livingston and Gaffigan Are "Going the "Distance"

Ron Livingston, Jim Gaffigan, Kelli Gellar, Rob Riggle and Jason Sudeikis have announced their attachment to New Line's romantic comedy "Going the Distance." The script has been written by Geoff LaTulippe. The story is about a young couple (Drew Barrymore and Justin Long ) that are navigating their way through the perils of a long-distance relationship and all the factors that come with it. The film is being directed by Nanette Burstein and is being produced by both Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot. Production and filming reportedly started two weeks ago.

Charlize Theron to Produce and Lead in Florence of Arabia

Charlize Theron's Production Company Denver and Delilah Films has just acquired the screen rights to Christopher Buckley's novel "Florence of Arabia." Theron will not only produce, but also will star and help with the development of the film. The story "Florence of Arabia" is about a State Department female employee (Theron), who watches her best friend fall in love and marry the Prince of a Middle East country and then is consequently executed. Jude Law Is Soon To Be Father.

British Actor Jude Law's spokeswoman reported that the actor is soon set to become a father again for the fourth time. However, the identity of the mother of this child has not been revealed yet. Also reporting on this story was Publicist Sara Keene who said that "following a relationship last year, Jude Law has been advised by the birth mother that he is to be the father of a child due in mid autumn."

She also stated that Law is no longer in a relationship with the woman but that he does intend to be a fully supportive part of the child's life. Other source: The Daily Mirror newspaper reported Thursday, that Law met the woman while filming Guy Ritchie's film "Sherlock Holmes" in New York of last year. This 36-year-old actor has three other children with his ex-wife Sadie Frost and now just a few months away from his fourth. He is currently performing on the London stage, for the play "Hamlet" through October. Meanwhile, his upcoming film “Sherlock Holmes” is to be released in theaters on December 25th, 2009.

Amanda Crew and Zach Efron to star In "Charlie St. Cloud "

Amanda Crew (A Haunting in Connecticut) will star alongside Zach Efron (High School Musical) in Universals new upcoming supernatural-romantic drama. "Charlie St. Cloud" will be directed by Burr Steers who rewrote the screenplay's latest draft by Lewis Colick. The story is an adaptation of the novel written by Ben Sherwood. It centers on a cemetery caretaker (Efron) who has numerous weekly meetings with his younger brother, whose accidental death he blames on himself. However, he soon meets a pretty young woman (Crew) believed to be missing in a sailing accident and they then begin a romantic relationship. After awhile he then starts to wonder if she is an apparition on the way to the next life.

Kings: A Show to be reckoned with

In case you haven’t caught this show Kings is a retelling of the biblical King David story and is truly amazing, but unfortunately the show is heading towards cancelation which is due to poor ratings but not poor reviews. Anybody who sits down and watches the show will see that there is a lot of substance in this program. Ian McShane (Deadwood) is the center of this show playing King Silas, the King of Gilboa which is a modern day country resembling the United States and centers around the city of Shiloh which is the epicenter of the country and the most advanced and clean city in their world. Also you follow the career of Captain David Sheperd who is played by Christopher Egan (Eragon, Resident Evil: Extinction) While the show started with a rocky start it is something that if you watch it will grow on to you and then turn into a full blown addiction. While in my opinion the main reason this show has poor ratings is due to the fact that it airs on Saturday night which is bad because I don’t feel they are hitting their key demographic, I’m usually out on Saturday. But I recommend that you catch this show on Hulu or at NBC.com because it is a great show that deserves to be renewed for a second season. The writing is on point and the production values are high while also having an incredible cast.

Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski singled out Durant and showered him with praise following the first day of a three-day minicamp for a group of 20 young players trying to make the senior national team.

Durant was the most dominant player on the floor in the team's 12-minute scrimmage after the squad spent the bulk of Thursday's practice working on drills. Friday's practice was expected to be more focused on scrimmaging.

"Everyone who was watching from our group said you could tell that Durant was a little bit on a mission -- and that's good for them to see that; it picks everybody up," Krzyzewski said. "He's that versatility guy, and the other thing is he's a shooter, and with the way we were playing defense for most of the Olympics, with his length, he could be a heck of a defender.

"So he's really at the head of the list for me."

Game Is Prepared For A 'Never-Ending' Battle With Jay-Z

"'I'm probably the only rapper in this world besides Nas that's really not scared to go at this dude's neck,' he says on Virginia radio show."

Taking a break from his promotional tour in Amsterdam, the Game spoke with "The Boodah Brothers Show" on Norfolk, Virginia's 103 Jamz, responding toJay's recent radio interview with the U.K.'s Tim Westwood.

"I ain't lost a rap beef to date, and when I say rap beef, I mean rap beef," Game said. "I ain't talking about no guns or shoot-outs or fighting. I'm just saying, this is hip-hop. It's a competition. We men. It's like football or basketball. It's competitive."

After countless verses name-dropping Mr. Carter, Game engaged Jay-Z in a full-on battle. The war of words was ignited when Jay mentioned Game's name, along with Jim Jones and Dame Dash, in a freestyle during the launch of his Blueprint 3 tour. Game immediately responded, going as far as dissing Beyoncé, questioning Jay's ability to father children and attacking the rapper's age.

Speaking out for the first time, Jay said his verse wasn't a dis but couldn't care less how it's perceived. "If that's a dis, then wear that," Jay told Westwood. "Tell groupie to get over it."

The Game, however, had a different perspective on Jay's bars: "What better way to talk about somebody than to not talk about 'em? Why you gotta say you're not talking about 'em? If you're not talking about them, then you just don't talk about 'em. He's slick, man. You gotta watch that cat, man. I'm probably the only rapper in this world besides Nas that's really not scared to go at this dude's neck. He knows if he goes to war with me, then it's going to be never-ending, man."

As was the case in his previous disses, the Game continued throwing darts at Jay-Z and his age, suggesting he move aside and let the new guys eat.

"Jay's problem is that some people just don't want to get old," Game said. "He got a problem like my dad got that problem. My dad, he just still trying to be young, like, rockin' fitted caps, and I'm like, 'Pops, you 60. You gotta chill.' Jay got that problem. He don't want to get old. It's cool to get old. But a lot of people have that problem, especially when they don't have children. But he don't got no children. I don't know what's up with that. Maybe he ain't fertile."

Return of the Batman Film Trilogy to Start Production in 2010!

Gary Oldman just reportedly announced at the Warner Bros. “Book of Eli,” question panel that the third Batman film will be starting production next year.

After an eager fan asked when the third and final chapter to the Batman Trilogy would be Oldman simply replied, "I think the next Batman is next year," "We start shooting next year, but you didn't hear that from me."

Robert Downey Joins Due Date Project

Ironman star Robert Downey Jr. is joining The Hangover’s co-star Zach Galifianakis in another comedy Directed by Todd Phillips titled Due Date.

Downey will play the role of an expectant father who finds himself on an adventurous road trip with a mismatched co-partner, as he races to get there before the birth of his first child.

Galifianakis plays Downey Jr.’s road trip buddy in a comedy that Phillips reportedly calls "a buddy comedy without the buddies."

The script was written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, and then revised by Adam Sztykiel. Shooting and production are set to start in early September. The three states they will be shooting in are Atlanta, Arizona and Los Angeles.

The Knicks have inside info about the kid's strong character, with assistant Dan D'Antoni having coached him in South Carolina.

Sessions pummeled Duhon this past season. If he was just a little more prominent, the Knicks would not be in the chase at the mid-level exception. It still may not be enough, with the Clippers involved in a sign-and-trade scenario with Milwaukee and the Bucks able to match any offer if it chooses. But the Bucks are going marketing crazy with their promising first-rounder Brandon Jennings, whom the Knicks passed on for Hill.

If they can get Sessions at 23, it's another young piece to build around Danilo and Wilson. Let's hope it happens.

Mangold and Cathy Konrad (Producer) brought the Rhodes-Courter memoir to Gertz and now she and Lubliner have decided to option the film rights as one of their first passion projects in their business. It is a simple wooden box that promises to deliver its owner $1 million if the person will press the button. Where In The World Is Joaquin Phoenix?

The critically acclaimed and two-time Academy Award Nominee Joaquin Phoenix has since been in hibernation preparing for his new profession in music since his surprising interview with David Letterman. It was there that he shocked the world saying goodbye to acting and focusing on his new passionate rap career, in which many people doubt will be anything good.. Joaquin has been working on tracks for months now in his own personal studio at his home. I instead ask why would it be so hard to really believe that maybe just m a y b e ...Joaquin Phoenix could make a descent rap/hip-hop album.

Lets look at the factors first of all: Number one, multiple musicians have gone from successfully rapping to acting in great movies such as Andre Benjamin aka Andre 3000, Christopher Bridges aka Ludacris and Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent. Number 2, Joaquin Phoenix learned how to play guitar AND sing for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in "Walk The Line" in which he earned his first Academy Award Nomination for a lead. Number 3, Justin Timberlake went from boyband to solo career of pop/hip hop music to acting in Alpha Dog. Other cases are frontman Jared Leto going from Lead Singer of 30 Seconds to Mars to supporting role in Lord of War and Jason Swartzman going from indie band Phantom Planet to supporting role in The Darjeeling Limited. These artists have all started out in music and recently migrated their way into very successful productions and films over the last few years and are still being cast in more than just few upcoming projects. So with just these three factors alone, you have to really ask yourself, would it really be that weird for what I believe is the best actor of his generation to NOT make a flop solo hip hop album and shock David Letterman and rest of the nation? I strongly believe there is a high potential for Phoenix to show us how talented he truly is and what he really is capable of even while off screen.

Finally there is his Brother-in-law Casey Affleck who is reportedly making a documentary on none other than Joaquin Phoenix and his life changing career transition from acting to rapping. Is this all part of his full creation of a new role? This could possibly be method acting at its best where he is that role and lives it everyday. Ask yourself this as well, is this truly an artist that can defeat critics and show them that he can both successfully maintain a well acclaimed acting career and also a fresh new sound of his own hip hop world? ...For now, only Joaquin knows and the rest of us in the world will just have to wait until he finally decides to debut his official new rap album. I however, am a believer and will be highly anticipating any news on Joaquin's rap career and this new documentary.

Blazers sign Miller.

Free-agent point guard Andre Miller has signed with the Portland Trail Blazers, the team announced on Friday.

Miller's contract is a three-year deal worth $21 million, with $14 million guaranteed and $7 million included as a third-year team option, sources close to the process said.

Miller, an unrestricted free agent, had been balking at signing a one-year offer from the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Blazers were one of only two teams with the money to give him more than the mid-level exception.

The Blazers had been looking for a veteran point guard for the past couple of seasons and have flirted with everyone from Jason Kidd to Kirk Hinrich.

"He is one of the league's ironmen who brings a wealth of veteran leadership to our team and is a great fit for our young and improving roster," Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.

Miller met with Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard and coach Nate McMillan at a restaurant in Las Vegas earlier this week

With comic book adaptations and video game adaptations gaining a large audience, Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) is set to direct the first screen adaptation of "Warcraft," a film that will be based directly on the videogame franchise "World of Warcraft."

Variety has reported that Legendary Pictures and videogame publisher Blizzard Entertainment will be the ones to produce and finance the film. However, Warner Bros. will be co-financing and distributing the film. Director Raimi will begin shooting the film soon, but he is to complete his work on “Spider-Man 4” first.

The original "Warcraft" game was released in 1994. This adaptation is looking to be another franchise, the broad storyline is set in a universe that battles between Horde and the Alliance.

Since most NFL training camps will open within the next week, it's time to start thinking about some serious questions. One that should interest many football fans is which players are ready to step up their games this fall. Another Burton-Depp Animation Underway

Tim Burton has just announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that once he is finished with production on Alice in Wonderland, and that his next project will be “Dark Shadows.” This film will be based on the cult 1960s supernatural TV show that was created by Dan Curtis. Johnny Depp is set to play the role of Barnabas Collins, a vampire patriarch of the series. (Variety)

This TV show had over 1,225 episodes, and is a very spooky, creepy soap-opera that featured many gothic horror staples like ghosts, monsters, witches, werewolves, vampires and zombies. The TV show initially ran from 1966 - 1971 and featured accomplished actor Jonathan Frid as the role of the vampire-Barnabas Collins.

“It Might Get Loud”

Director Davis Guggenheim, best known for his Academy Award-winning documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” enlightens our appreciation for electric guitar as he brings together three maestros from different generations: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, The Edge of U2 and Jack White of The White Stripes. “It Might Get Loud” brings together their stories to reveal just how each of them developed a unique sound in which they call their own.

However this documentary is focused on the intimate process on how the songs are music are created. Each guitarist will be describing his own musical rebellion such as Page against the pop of the ‘60s, The Edge against the self-indulgent solos of the ‘70s and finally White against the countless bass machines of the ‘80s. Each guitarist will take them to the original places where they were able to first create their song and finally at the end will come together for an ultimate jam session where they demonstrate their varying tastes of rock. They will show off their guitars, amps, many guitar pedals and the creation process of their songs. This is certainly a must see for any musician or anyone that would like to look into their world on the ecstatic process. It might not affect how you play, but this will definitely change how how you listen to rock from now on.

A Preview of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time"

Walt Disney Pictures and Director Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco/Mona Lisa Smile) is soon to bring their fantasy feauture film, " Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" that stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton and Alfred Molina. The story is about the fantasy adventure based on Ubisoft's video game, Jake Gyllenhaal will play the role of Dastan, the young prince in 6th century Persia who joins forces with an exotic princess named Tamina (Arterton) in order to prevent a villainous nobleman Nizam (Kingsley) from using the Sands of Time gift that will reverse all of time and make him the ruler and possessor of the world.

New Weezer “Close To a Wrap”

Things had been all quiet on the Weezer front recently, but the band ended their silence this weekend with a monster post on their official Website preparing fans for both Weezer’s seventh album and a deluxe version of their classic Pinkerton. “The bands 7th album, title TBA, is pretty close to a wrap now (after a mild false alarm back in the spring), though there is some work yet remaining to be done. There have also been some other special Weezer studio recordings done recently,” the band writes. Weezer hint at a “to-be-announced special non-physical release” as well as plans to release the upcoming album’s first single and video.

While the album’s title is still unknown, popular colors not yet used by Weezer for eponymous releases include yellow, purple, orange and white. Weezer will play one of their new songs, “She Got Hot,” in concert in Japan next week, the band’s official Twitter revealed. The Weezer Tweeter hosted a contest to see if fans could guess the new song title, with one fan winning one of those in-demand Weezer Snuggies.

It is why the Allen Iverson chatter has faded. And it is why, in the wake of Carlos Boozer's recent round of lobbying, Riley released this statement: "We listen to all inquiries, but there is nothing going on."

Understand, Riley rarely responds to speculation. He merely ignores it. Yet this time, he felt an 11-word response was warranted. Why? Because he won't be strong-armed. Boozer may well have overplayed his hand.

With Boozer a free agent, Riley could have made a straightforward decision. Of course, that could have meant Boozer's love for Miami being requited with only a mid-level embrace. Somehow, we figure the South Florida affection wouldn't have been as enduring for Boozer in that case.

No matter what Carlos Boozer wants, what matters more is what Pat Riley wants. And he doesn't want to be painted into a corner.

The Return of Mischa Barton.

Actress Mischa Barton is set to portray the role of a pill-popping supermodel in this series titled, "The Beautiful Life." However, Barton is reportedly "still seeking treatment but making improvements," after being hospitalized early last week. Spokesman Craig Schneider would not elaborate any further on Barton's condition at this time other than that she would be ready to start production of the new show on July 31, 2009. (Variety)

This will be the actress’s first come back since the highly glorified TV Series, "The OC." We hope that Barton gets well soon and comes back to the screen as she has out of the spotlight for a few years now and needs to make her come back!

Jay-Z’s “Blueprint 3 ” To Feature Rihanna, Drake, MGMT

Jay-Z divulged some more details about his upcoming Blueprint 3, telling Reuters that Rihanna, Drake, Mr Hudson and Kid Cudi will be among the artists featuring on his third installment in the Blueprint series. As Rolling Stone reveals in our new issue’s in the studio story on MGMT, the electro-pop duo will also lend their talents to a track off Blueprint 3. Absent from the guest list is Jigga’s wife Beyoncé, though the rapper didn’t rule out the possibility of it happening. As for Rihanna, her contribution might be her first vocal appearance since the February 8th incident with Chris Brown.

The Blueprint 3 — out September 11th, eight years to the day the original Blueprint was released — will also feature production from Timbaland, No ID and Kanye West, who Jay-Z spoke glowingly about to Reuters. “Kanye is really the father to the next generation — he’s from the school of Q-Tip, and now Drake and Kid Cudi are from the school of ‘Ye,” Jay said. “And, when you look at Kanye, you have to look at Lil Wayne. I think they’re like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.”

Jay-Z also talked about his attack on Auto-Tune on first single “D.O.A.,” saying, “In hip-hop our job is, once a trend becomes a gimmick, to get rid of it. We’ve done that since the beginning of time. This isn’t some newfangled thing.” Two tracks that were originally destined for Blueprint 3, the Oasis-taunting “Jockin’ Jay-Z” and Santigold-sampling “Brooklyn Go Hard,” won’t make the album’s final track list, Reuters reports, adding that at least one more single will predate the album’s September 11th release.

As Rock Daily previously reported, Jay-Z’s new album will come out on Atlantic Records after he bought out his Island Def Jam contract.

What will happen to highly acclaimed Futurama?

Matt Groening and David Cohen's cartoon comedy has been picked up by comedy central for another season. New episodes will be airing mid 2010. There may be one difference though, 20^th TV is proceeding with auditioning for new actors after failing to reach an agreement with the Original cast member John DiMaggio, Maurice Lamarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille, and Katey Sagal. While the actors are still holding out hoping that the studio may change its iaccept their demands, however it seems unlikely. "We love the 'Futurama' voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands," said the studio in a press release. So it may seem that the studio has already moved on. Demanding a tenfold increase in their salary may seem like a lot but considering the show’s popularity growth after going to Comedy Central, it is not unreasonable to think they may still meet the demands of the voice actors. As with what happened to ‘The Simpsons’ when the actors boycotted table reads as part of tense salary negations in the 2004 and 2008 seasons. However ‘The Simpsons’ did make it to their 20^th season with its original actors and met some agreement on their salary demands. So at this point we must wait and see what the studio and actors agree to on the future of this show.

A full month after its initial release and I still cannot decide what genre to put this album in as it has so many different ideas, collaborations, influences and new effects. What the world knows now is that Rob Thomas for sure understands every type of music and is capable of creating his own genre and is well on his way to becoming one of today’s legendary rock stars.

Starting out with Matchbox Twenty, playing with rock legend Carlos Santana, then starting his own solo career, releasing another CD with Matchbox Twenty and then now releasing his 2nd solo album... Rob Thomas has proven that he is continuously growing both artistically and creatively. Notably the most accomplished singer and songwriter of his generation, he has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide.

The Green Hornet project in talks with Cameron Diaz & Nicolas Cage

Just yesterday Columbia Pictures announced that they are in talks with none other than Nicolas Cage for the role of the gangster villain in “The Green Hornet.” (Variety)

Also reported, Cameron Diaz is negotiating for the role of the love interest for co-star Seth Rogen, who will be playing the role of Green Hornet.

Although Steven Chow has dropped out of this project to play The Green Hornet’s sidekick “Kato,”, Michael Gondry has stepped up to direct the film, while Rogen and Evan Goldberg have written the full script and also have Neal Moritz on board as a Producer on behalf of Original Films.

We are certainly in store for quite a superhero film if this turns out to be the official cast: Cage, Diaz and Rogen…all we can say is wow…

The Green Hornet is hoping for a July 9, 2010 theatrical release.

Notorious Rapper & Actor - 50 Cent has dropped the price of his mansion down to $10.9 Million.

50 Cent is again trying to sell the 50,000-square-foot mansion is in the Hartford metropolitan area suburb of Farmington. It was previously owned by former boxer Mike Tyson and features a shocking 19 bedrooms and 37 bathrooms. It also has a personal gym, numerous billiards rooms, multiple racquetball courts, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, multiple balconies and yes even a disco room with stripper poles included.

This famous New York City rapper bought it for around $4.1 million in 2003 but has reportedly said it had "a 'Miami Vice feel" to it and he sank an additional $6 million on renovations and upgrades. Shaquille O'neal to do Reality show competing against other athletes in different sports to prepare for season.

ESPN reports that "Shaq told USA Today that he came up with the idea as a way to train for the NBA season. Shaq figured Americans would really want to see an athlete play another sport," according to the newspaper. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Shaq's new team, have cleared the 37-year-old O'Neal to take part in the show."

"Future episodes of the hour-long show will feature Shaq against Olympic swimming sensation Michael Phelps, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya, St. Louis Cardinalsslugger Albert Pujols, tennis star Serena Williams and beach volleyball Olympians Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh."

When asked if there would be cash prizes O'neal laughed, "Bragging rights are always better than any monetary prize," O'Neal told USA Today.

LAS VEGAS -- They were there for Blake Griffin, and they didn't even get to see him play. Fans started lining up at an autograph booth in the Thomas & Mack Center concourse before the Los Angeles Clippers' summer league game, and they stayed there until Griffin arrived some 20 minutes after the game ended, sat down and started signing jerseys, cards, basketballs, shirts and programs. The line extended past concession stands and entry portals, with more fans breaking ranks to get a glimpse of the Clippers' No. 1 pick. A team official said he's never seen anything like it for one of their players at summer league.

This is different.

And this goes against everything I've learned since the Clippers moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and provided us with a quarter-century's worth of bad draft picks, loafing centers, point guards on 10-day contracts taking last-second shots, and Donald Sterling's ownership serving as the lone constant, but I believe Griffin can change this team.

If he does, if he turns the Clippers into regular playoff residents instead of occasional visitors, he'll go down as one of the greatest No. 1 picks ever. That's the magnitude of the challenge, and that's how monumental that accomplishment would be.

Adam Yauch, member of the Beastie Boys, has been diagnosed with what he described as a "very treatable" form of cancer.

This sudden illness has caused record label EMI to postpone the release of the Beastie Boys new album and they've canceled their tour for now.

Yauch will be undergoing treatment for a cancerous tumor found in his left salivary gland and a nearby lymph node. His recovery is said to be quick and a spokesman for Yauch said "If anything, he'll be around more." The spokesperson also said that other business at the label will continue regularly.

UFC 100

While UFC 100 had many great bouts, one of the most memorable was the Henderson knock out of Michael Bisping in the second round. A phenomenal fight that left Michael Bisping eating his words and comments he made in the Ultimate Fighter series. Henderson hit Bisping with a big right that knocked him out before he hit the ground and then landed him with another right and big elbow while on the matt. (Maybe a little pay back for his comments he had made?) The UK may have won the Ultimate Fighters Series but their coach went back across the pond seeing stars. George St-Pierre put on a stellar performance as always. His technical skill along with his physical condition shows that GSP is on his way to being a UFC Hall of Famer, Thiago Alves put up a good fight but it was not enough to keep up with GSP, it was clear that GSP was dominating the fight the entire five rounds and just showed he is one of the UFC’s best pound for pound contenders. The main event everybody was waiting for was the rematch of Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, while these two colossal fighters exchanged blow after blow Lesner rocked Mir and got him to the mat while finishing with his ground and pound tactics that have worked so well for the 265 pound fighter. He may very well be one of the best fighters to emerge this year and may reign as the UFC heavyweight champion for many UFC matches to come. This may even be the longest hold of a belt in UFC history. I have been around the MMA and martial arts community for a long time and love him or hate him,Brock Lesnar is a beast. While his comments after the fight are rimiest of his WWE career, this type of attitude does not sit well for the image the UFC is trying create now. Brock Lesnar did apologize afterward to the sponsor Bud light for his comments he made and his generally bad attitude may not bode well for the UFC, but if he keeps up this winning streak it will lead him to being one of the most popular fighter in the UFC. The old saying stands true all publicity is good publicity. UFC viewers are at an all time high.

Bruno, Bruno, Bruno….

To all those of you who are wondering whether you should go see this movie you must ask yourself one question; how much permned male genitalia can you handle? If you can then definitely go check out this movie! In my opinion this movie is absolutely hilarious. I was in a constant laughing state while definitely feeling very awkward at times. If you want me to tell you that this movie is as funny as Borat; unfortunately I cannot. Sacha Baron Cohen had to trade more of the comedic situational bits we all loved in Borat; for cheap low brow humor. I must reiterate, if you are at all uncomfortable with guy on guy action you may want to go see something else. But Sacha Baron Cohen does deliver a spectacular performance as always, staying in character and keeping it going while pushing it to the very limit.

According to league sources, the Los Angeles Clippers have traded Quentin Richardson after acquiring him for Darko Milicic on draft night- this makes Richardson's fourth team in a month.

The deal brings the Clippers back a solid back-up behind Baron Davis in Sebastian Telfair, they also will receive F Mark Madsen and F Craig Smith. These players will not play many minutes mainly because most of the positions PT will be given to rookie standout and #1 draft pick Blake Griffin.

Richardson provides the Minnesota Timberwolves with a sharp shooting 3 point scorer in place of Mike Miller but does not seem to be in their long term plans.

Sony close to closing deal on Jackson movie.

Sony Pictures is close to locking down a feature film on Michael Jackson reports Variety.

The film will draw on the eighty hours of rehearsal footage filmed for concerts Jackson was preparing to perform in London. The feature will also include at least three videos including an alternative version of 'Thriller' which were shot specifically for the London concerts.

The studio is expected to pay more than $50 million for worldwide rights to the footage. Kenny Ortega ("High School Musical"), who shot the rehearsal footage, is expected to direct and has already bug to assemble footage.

Though shot for 3D, it's unsure if the feature film will be presented as such. A release is planned before the end of the year.

ESPN Reports: Phil's Wife recovering well.

Phil Mickelson said his wife Amy is doing well after surgery for breast cancer and expressed thanks for the support they have received in an update on his Web site.

"The best news so far is that the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes, which improves our chances of beating this in the short and long term," Mickelson wrote in a posting on July 16. "We're awaiting one test result that will influence Amy's treatment plan. The waiting and wondering sometimes can be the most difficult part but she has a very positive attitude and has handled all of this with her usual grace. I'm so proud of her."

Phil Mickelson announced on May 20 that his wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She reportedly underwent surgery July 1 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Rock Band finds new Artists.

Music video games like Rock Band have brought attention to hundreds of songs and introduce older bands to a new generation, and now the title may help unknowns and up and comers crack the bigtime: Today Harmonix and MTV Games announced the creation of the Rock BandNetwork, a place where any aspiring songwriter can attempt to turn his or her own songs into gameplay files to be sold as playable tracks.

The Rock Band Network will launch in August and include instructions for how exactly songwriters can turn their tunes into game songs. Songs must first undergo play-testing at Creators.RockBand.com, a Website available to those who become premium members of Microsoft’s XNA Creators Club Online at a cost of $49.99 for four months or $99.99 for a year. When a track gets the go ahead, it will be sold at the Rock Band Network Store exclusively for Xbox 360 for a period of 30 days starting in the fall. A selection of approved tracks will later be sold for PlayStation 3 and Wii. Harmonix and MTV promise artists whose tunes make the cut will be compensated: rockers will be able to price individual tracks according to multiple pricing tiers, and they’ll get paid royalties accordingly.

“Our goal with Rock Band has always been to go beyond making music games and create a true music platform,” said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, in a statement.

Fall 2009 promises to be a busy time in the world of music video games. Rock Band’s Beatles game is due September 9th, the same day the Fab Four’s remastered catalog hits stores. Competitor Guitar Hero 5 will be released on September 1st.

Dr. Henry Carter (Kevin Spacey), the title psychiatrist of Jonas Pate’s“Shrink,” opening Friday, is by every rational standard a woeful specimen of the mental-health practitioner. The doctor does not inspire confidence: he doesn’t shave, tends to sleep in his clothes and is pretty much permanently stoned on pot (sometimes enhanced with substantial quantities of alcohol). The blank stare he trains on his patients is not a therapeutic technique, a pose of studied indifference — it’s actual indifference. But he doesn’t bite anybody’s face off.

Big Ben Back to D-Town?

By signing power forward Chris Wilcox to a two-year, $6 million deal, the Pistons get a backup for Charlie V that does some of the things he simply cannot. By no means is Wilcox a savior, but he helps.

Further help could be on the way in the form of former Detroit fan-favorite Ben Wallace. Sure, he bolted the Big D for Chicago three years ago for the sole purpose of dollar bills, but Big Ben's got a little bit of gas left in the tank and could still play some minutes at center at the veteran's minimum salary. It would be nice for him to get the opportunity to retire in the uniform that won him his championship (even though he's got about zero chance to win another one if he's planning on finishing his career in Auburn Hills), and it's hard to believe the fans wouldn't welcome him back with open arms.

Are Wilcox and Wallace enough to improve the overall look of the Pistons next season? Maybe marginally, but with a rookie coach, a hodgepodge of talented players, and no real point guard, it's going to be difficult to expect real success there, at least for next season.

Romantic Comedy for "Smart Romantics."

It's not hard to fall in love with Marc Webb's directorial debut (500) Days of Summer, something that's been happening regularly since it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received an unprecedented but well-deserved standing ovation from the audience at the Eccles Theater.

Based on a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, it stars Joseph Gordon Levitt (Brick, The Lookout) as Tom Hansen, a greeting card writer who falls head over heels for his boss' new assistantSummer Bishl (Zooey Deschanel). He convinces her to go out with him and their relationship blossoms until one day, Tom realizes the enigmatic Ms. Bishl will never accept him as her boyfriend - she's just not wired that way. Heartbroken, he spends the next few months trying to get over her while simultaneously trying to win her back.

There are a couple of things that make this boy-meets-girl movie so special, including the innovative non-linear narrative and the clever filmmaking techniques used by Marc Webb to bring this L.A. relationship comedy to life in a unique way that's more truthful than it is cynical. It's the first romantic comedy for intelligent romantics (i.e. Smiths fans!) who know that nothing ever works out the way we hope.

Kanye West revealed on his visit to The Viewtoday that he’ll embark on a joint tour with Rolling Stone’s new Hot Diva — Lady Gaga — later this year. Details are still sketchy, but West said, “She’s talented and so incredible that she’s not an opening act. We’re doing it together, with no opening act.” Perez Hilton says that Gaga and Yeezy will instead spend the entire show onstage performing together, but again, West provided no other major information regarding the nature of their trek together, including possible tour dates. One thing is certain: This show will definitely be one of the hottest tickets this year.

Marvel Entertainment has just announced that Robert Downey Jr and Don Cheadlehave signed on for both Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau will also executive produce The Avengers. As previously reported, Cheadle will be replacing Terrence Howard as Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes.

The announcement also comes with the first look at a plot synopsis tease: ” “In a movie event, The Avengers will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the HULK and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they’ve ever faced.” Who could that be? With Hulk on the listed team line-up, does that mean that the big green guy is out as a possibility?

BESANCON, France -- Lance Armstrong dropped one spot to fourth place at the Tour de France on Saturday, and a woman crossing the road died after being hit by a police motorcycle escorting riders.

The accident happened 24 miles into the 124-mile stage from Colmar to Besancon. Tour organizers identified the victim a 61-year-old woman. Two others were injured when the motorcycle skidded into them.

The race enters the Alps for Sunday's 15th stage, a 129-mile ride from Pontarlier, France, to the Swiss ski station of Verbier. The three-week Tour ends July 26 in Paris.
